At the Mill

When you are our guest, there are dozens of ways to enjoy your visit without having to spend money.  All it takes is the time to explore, a sense of discovery, a bit of exercise and a peaceful mind.   Whether you are on your own or with someone to help pass the time, feel free to roam our property while you breathe in the fresh air.  Wherever you go, be sure to take a camera.

Gatineau_Park_getaway1The Belvedere and pool areas

Our lovely stone belvedere next to the Mill overlooks MacLaren Falls and the lower La Pêche River.  It is an ideal spot to practice yoga or soak in one of our hot tbs.  Over by the Eco River Lodge, you will find a second hot tub nestled next to the upper La Pêche River.  During the fair weather seasons, our outdoor pool is waiting for all our guests, day or night.  Float with the stars circling overhead and the wind whispering through the boughs.

ExerciseExercise and the outdoors

Wilderness, we have in abundance!  As the only hotel in the Gatineau Park, we are privileged to have two trailheads within 100 meters of our front door.  Whether cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing in the winter, or hiking and biking in the summer, the Gatineau Park is yours to discover.  Closer by, enjoy the quiet of our Meditation Gardens leading down to the river, being sure to show caution near the river banks, especially during the Spring run-off.  Yoga enthusiasts have been known to pick a quiet spot along the shoreline.

Our docks have been known to host canoeists and paddlers as well as those who prefer to relax in an Adirondack and watch the water flow by.

And of course, if weights and machines are more to your taste, we have that too in our Fitness and Exercise Building next to the trailheads.

GamesGames, Music & History

When the weather outside is frightful, enjoy our bar lounge where we have quiet spots for reading, a pool table, and shelves filled with backgammon, chess and puzzles.  We've lined our walls with articles and photographs of the history of the original mill.  On Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, we feature light live music in stylings that best reflect jazz, acoustic, blues and roots.

A short walk down the road, the town of Wakefield lies next to the Gatineau River.  Browse its shops for crafts and fabulous gastronomic temptations, enjoys its festivals, and delight in the friendly folk who are our neighbours.  For more information, visit Local Attractions where you can learn about tourist spots such as the covered bridge and Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson's resting place.
